Cosme Velazquez, 81, of Casa Grande died on Nov. 29, 2012, in Casa Grande.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Felix Rodriguez. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Velazquez was born on Aug. 16, 1931, in Glendale and was a son of Francisco Velazquez and Eva Serrano. A diesel mechanic, he started work at Arizona Feed as a truck driver and eventually moved up to head mechanic. He finished his career working for Pinal County.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. His passion was his family, and he was a devoted father who helped raise 12 children and put them all through St. Anthony's Catholic School.
Survivors include 12 daughters and sons, Bernadette Valencia, Barbara Zazueta, Cosme D. Velazquez, Brenda Federico, Robert, Edward and Francisco Velazquez, Bertha Ramos, Berenice Soto, Beverley, Thomas and George Velazquez, all of Casa Grande; four brothers, Lupe Espinoza of Casa Grande, Thomas Martinez of Indio, Calif., Andy Silvas of Washington and Frank Silvas of Tucson; three sisters, MaryHelen Nieto of Eloy, Belen Samora of Indio and Rosie Sousa of Tucson; 57 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestina; five brothers, Genaro DeLaTorre, Robert and Pete Martinez, Marcos and Angel Silvas; a sister, Sarah DeLuna; and a great-granddaughter, Mia A. Federico.
