CASA GRANDE - Courtney Rochelle Sanford died on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1988, to LaWanda Hill and Scott Sanford in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ms. Sanford spent a part of her young life in St. Louis, Missouri, until she moved to Arizona. Her passion has always been writing. She left a collection of poems and writings that she created throughout the years, often expressing her love for the outdoors, sunrise, sunsets, family, faith in God and being one with nature.
Her faith guided her in all that she had become and gave her the strength that she needed to be the shining star that she was.
She began her career as a correctional officer with the Arizona Department of Corrections in November, 2010.
"Courtney is remembered as being very dedicated to her work and being the kindest person who never raised her voice above a whisper," her co-workers shared.
Survivors include her companion, Isaac Levingston; her mother and father; brothers, Vincent (Kchyecha), Brance, Dominick, Russell and Brandon; sisters, Dominique and Aaliyah; grandparents, Larry and Doris Bell and John and Genevieve Sanford; aunts, Angela, Alicia, Lisa and Karen; uncle, Mark; and nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a faithful dog, Isabelle.
She was preceded in death by an uncle Jack and her cat, Kobe.
Public visitation Friday at 10 a.m. Service is at 11 a.m. at the First Assembly of God in Casa Grande. Burial is at Mountain View Cemetery.
