Visitation for Curtis Wayne Whitehead, 28, of Stanfield will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will follow at the cultural hall of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kortsen Building.
Mr. Whitehead was born in Phoenix and grew up in Stanfield. He loved life and participated in Little League, softball and soccer. He coached a soccer team in Stanfield. He also water skied, snow skied, hunted, fished and camped. He was a lifeguard for the city of Casa Grande.
Curtis met the love of his life Michelle at the Casa Grande Public swimming pool the summer of 2001. Curtis and Michelle were in lifeguard classes together.
He served on the Stanfield Fire Department and was the training officer there. Before his illness he was a firefighter on the Eloy Fire Department and worked for Southwest Gas Corp. in Casa Grande. He died Oct. 29, 2008 at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson.
He is loved by his wife of four years, Michelle B. and his beautiful daughter Esperanza M., 18 months, Stanfield; his parents Johnny and Laurie L. Whitehead, Stanfield; his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Robin Whitehead, Casa Grande; grandparents Tom and Dee Whitehead, Stanfield.

Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ruby Whitehead and William and Elizabeth Noble.
