Damiana C. Cortez

CASA GRANDE - Damiana C. Cortez, 92, of Casa Grande died on April 17, 2016.

Ms. Cortez was born on July 3, 1923, in Clementina, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts and was a whiz at puzzles. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, and watching her novela was a "do not disturb" time.

Known as Nana to all, she was an excellent cook, and her hands were always moving, making something for someone from her heart with lots of love. Her family was everything to her.

Survivors include four sons, Francisco Cortez of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jose, Juan and Argelio Cortez, all of Casa Grande; two daughters, Maria Alicia Guevara of Queen Creek and Rosa Maria Ratliff of Casa Grande; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Miguel Cortez, and a daughter, Maria Guadalupe Castro.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 by the Rev. Alan Valencia. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
