ARIZONA CITY - Daniel Flores Leija, 65, of Arizona City died on Feb. 21, 2016, at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.
Mr. Leija was born on Aug. 31, 1950, in Temple, Texas, and was a son of Benito and Elena Leija. He was a produce wholesaler and loved his family and spending time with them. He was an Arizona Cardinals fan and enjoyed fishing, cowboy movies and going to church on Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Doris M.; a daughter, Renee Simmons of Arizona City; two sons, Daniel Leija of Gilbert and Alexander Leija of Arizona City; six brothers, Joel and Eleazar Leija of Eloy, Cesar and Noel Leija of Casa Grande, Benito Leija of California and Salomon Leija of Arizona City; five sisters, Bertha Beasley of Mesa, Elizabeth Smith of Phoenix, Annette Leija of Temple, Texas, Elena Lenick of Scottsdale and Victoria Chavez of Temecula, California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Raquel Fraga, and a granddaughter, Dani Leija.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. today at Living Waters Church in Casa Grande. A service there will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, with a celebration of life following. Pastor Josh Ibarra will officiate.
