Darren Wayne Rhodes

CASA GRANDE - Darren Wayne Rhodes, 47, of Casa Grande died on Sept. 22, 2017, at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.
Mr. Rhodes was born on March 3, 1970, in Sacaton to Darryl and Diana (Moffett) Rhodes. He excelled in sports at Casa Grande Union High School and was the school's first two-time state wrestling champion in 1987 and 1988. He also participated in shot put and played defensive positions on the football team before graduating in 1988. He attended Northern Arizona University on an athletic scholarship, playing defensive line on the football team.
He coached softball in Casa Grande leagues while his daughters played and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sacaton. He was devoted to his family and cared for the children in the community, helping when he could. He worked for Gila River Tribal Gaming for 19 years, most recently in supervision, before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Kay; three daughters, Priscilla, Lucille and Sandra of Casa Grande; his parents, of Sacaton; and a brother, William J. Rhodes Sr. of Sacaton.
Wake from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton and continuing at the Darryl Rhodes home in Sacaton. Funeral at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the church. Burial in East Sacaton Cemetery.
