SACATON — David Lyons Sr., 70, died on March 21, 2012, at Caring House.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Imogene Escarsega home. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Irving Terry officiating. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.
Mr. Lyons was born on March 23, 1941, in Sacaton and was a son of Francis and Minnie Lyons. He was a supervisor for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A competitive roper his whole life, he also was a youth leader at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church. He was devoted to his family and a Phoenix Suns fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Mavis Nelson of Chandler; a son, David Lyons Jr. of Sacaton; thee sisters, Ione Lyons of Phoenix, Imogene Lyons of Casa Blanca and Karen Sakeagak of Alaska; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and a brother, Paul Lyons.
