David Iglesias Villarreal, 87, a longtime Casa Grande resident, died on Feb. 3, 2013, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Villarreal was born on Nov. 25, 1925, in Ennis, Texas, and was a son of Eugenio and Mary J. Villarreal. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked in construction and helped build St. Anthony's Church and many other buildings in the Casa Grande area, including while working for E.L. Kinsley Construction Co. He loved the White Mountains, his novellas, football, baseball and fishing. He loved his family, especially the young children, and taught by example.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Hortenica; three sons, David Villareal, Arnold and Manuel Villarreal, all of Casa Grande; two daughters, Mary Robles of Eloy and Sylvia Elias of Casa Grande; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, Brian Villareal.
