ARIZONA CITY — Donald Lee Whitten, 74, died on May 5, 2013, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. May 25 at Grace Church in Casa Grande.
Mr. Whitten was born on March 30, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, and was a son of Arleigh Whitten and Gwyneth Johns. He retired as a master chief petty officer after 30 years of honorable service in the Navy as a jet aircraft technician and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and National Rifle Association. He was a member of Grace Church and was chairman of the Paradise Lake Association in Arizona City. He enjoyed golf, puzzles, boating, fishing, computer games and, most of all, his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Jean C.; two daughters, Donita Whitten of Jupiter, Fla., and Nicole Whitten of Manassas, Va.; a son, Ronald Whitten of Manassas; three stepdaughters, Sally Benedict of Mesa, MaryAnn Begg of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Jeannie Fischer of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsons, Skip Fischer of Norco, Calif., and Greg Fischer of Upland, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church.
