Douglas Roy Smith, 73, of Casa Grande died on April 30, 2011, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
The celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with Ford Jennings officiating.
Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 9, 1938, in Chickasha, Okla., and was a son of Edwin T. and Rosanna G. Smith. He served in the National Guard and was a journeyman drywall installer. He built the home he and his wife lived in for 42 years and enjoyed working with wood. He rode and repaired motorcycles and enjoyed hunting and drinking with his sons. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra K.; two daughters, Pamela L. Porter and Tammy K. Rodriguez of Casa Grande; two sons, Steven R. Smith of Eloy and Douglas L. Smith of Arizona City; a brother, Clifford Smith of Buckeye; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Smith, and two sisters, Helen Watson and Goldie Lutz.
