Eddie Lopez

SAN LUCY — Eddie Rueben Lopez, 62, of San Lucy died on Nov. 19, 2011, at La Loma Care Center in Litchfield Park.
The wake will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Lucy Catholic Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Monday at the Lopez home in Kaka Village by the Rev. Ignatius DeGroot. Burial will be in Kaka Cemetery.
Mr. Lopez was born on Aug. 20, 1949, in San Xavier. He was a 1968 graduate of Gila Bend High School and enjoyed playing all sports. He was a fullback and shortstop. He worked in the maintenance department for the Tohono O'odham San Lucy District for 11 years.
He enjoyed gardening and especially growing watermelons, tomatoes and all kinds of chili. He enjoyed drawing Native art, including scenery, horses and nature. He worked with wood, making side steps, step stools and carving small horses and dogs. He enjoyed dancing to waila music.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Evelyn L., and a sister, Darlene Lopez of San Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Regina and John J. Lopez Sr.; two sisters, Jessilena and Alberta Lopez; and two brothers, Everett and John J. Lopez Jr.
