ELOY - Edith Charleen McDonald, 87, of Eloy died Sept. 16, 2008 at home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel. The funeral there will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park. Pastor Edward Wooten and Bishop H.B. Thompson will officiate.
Mrs. McDonald was born March 10, 1921 in Collinwood, Tenn., and was a daughter of McKinley Nelson and Lydia Kilburn. She was a homemaker. She joined the Church of God in the mid-1930s and married Clarence R. McDonald on Jan. 8, 1938 in Collinwood.
In the early 1940s she went to Michigan and was a "Rosie the Riveter," helping to build B-24s at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. She moved to Eloy in 1970. She was very active in the Church of God in Michigan and Arizona.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Sue Warner of Eloy; a son, Clarence F. McDonald of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a sister, Louisa Hollis of Florence, Ala.; a brother, Orbie Kelly of Florence, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2003; two brothers, McKinley Nelson and Walter Goodman; and a sister, Beulah Martin.
