SACATON - Edith Eunice "Tootie" Huckabay, 91, died on Feb. 9, 2015.
Ms. Huckabay was born in the Los Angeles area and moved with her family to the Gila River Indian Community. A helpful, caring person, she followed in the tradition of her grandfather Dr. F. Gesdorf, a physician who worked on the Crow reservation in Montana.
She loved music, hot dogs, ice cream and children. She lived a full life with her relatives in the Sacaton area and also lived in Ajo for a number of years.
Survivors include a son, Edmund "Lee" Thompson; a sister, Peggy Morago Jackson; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gary W. and Richard D. Thompson.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton, with the service following at 10. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery with no viewing at the cemetery.
