Edna Youtsey Ruiz, 72, of Casa Grande died June 18, 2009 at Hospice Compassus.


Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church in Florence by the Rev. Charles Cloud, with visitation one hour prior. Burial was in Florence Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruiz was born in Florence. She was a law librarian and worked at the Pinal County Courthouse for 40 years.

She enjoyed singing in church, playing volleyball, softball and golf, cooking, movies and watching the Phoenix Suns. She also enjoyed reading, dancing, traveling, painting and sewing. She played piano and violin and sang in Mariachi fiestas in Tucson. She was a devout Catholic who loved her family, home and friends. She was sincere, compassionate, unselfish, dignified and a very giving person.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Arnulfo "Canaco" Ruiz; four daughters, Patricia L. Ruiz Martin and Mitzi Ruiz Moreno of Phoenix, Kristi Ruiz Perez and Sabrina Ruiz Chacon of Casa Grande; a son, Michael Ruiz of Casa Grande; her mother, Aurelia Youtsey of Coolidge; a sister, Dora Henry of Coolidge; two brothers, Danny and Andy Youtsey of Coolidge; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Youtsey, and a brother, Richard "Dickie" Youtsey.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
