Edward Earl Clutter, 87, of Casa Grande died on April 1, 2011, at Oasis Pavilion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. Burial will be in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
Mr. Clutter was born on March 10, 1924, in North Kenova, Ohio, and was a son of Lawrence T. Clutter and Myrtle L. Lemons. He served with the 4th Marine Division in World War II and survived the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a mail carrier for many years before retirement.
He was one of the founders of Casa Grande Little League and a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Casa Grande Airport Authority. He was an artist, poet, pilot, inventor and loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great jokester.
Survivors include his wife, Helen L.; two daughters, Janice C. Weaver of Casa Grande and Cynthia Vance of California; two sons, Edward “Bud” Clutter of South America and Steven “Pete” Clutter of Casa Grande; a sister, Lorena Volk of Ohio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Clutter; a daughter, Catherine Prentice; a granddaughter, Lisa Vance; and a grandson, Scott Prentice.
