Edward "Eddie'" Fairman, 93, passed away on July 4th, 2012 in Casa Grande after a short illness. Ed was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa moving to Arizona in the early 1950's. He was an accomplished heavy equipment mechanic for 35 years, an active member of the Shriners in the 1970's and in particular the Clown unit bringing joy to hundreds of children through the Shriners Children's Hospital, Shriners Charities and appearances in parades all over the southwest. Ed served proudly in World War II as a top turret machine gunner on a B-24 as a member of the 858th Bombardment Squadron- 492nd Bombardment Group. In the 1980's Ed and Phyllis, his wife of over 50 years, bought a summer home in Forest Lakes, Arizona where they made many lifelong friends and acquaintances. Ed loved to build things from scratch whether in steel or wood, there was nothing too complex or unique that he was afraid to tackle. Eddie built and raced cars in the 40's, restored antique cars in the 60's and 70's and always loved getting his hands dirty on a new project. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, daughter Penny and sister Louisa. He is survived by his brother Bob in Des Moines and son Jeff and his wife Pat in Casa Grande, grandchildren Eric and his wife Chris, April, Angela and Alex, and 3 great-grandchildren, Joey, Garrett and Jordan.
