Edward G. Aspinall

Edward George "Ed" Aspinall, 88, of Casa Grande died peacefully on April 29, 2014, at Family Tys Assisted Living.

The graveside service will be held in the fall at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Mr. Aspinall was born on June 13, 1925, in Elkhorn, Wis., and was a son of George and Annie May Aspinall of Lake Geneva. He was trained as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945, during World War II. He moved to Arizona with his family in 1961 due to the health of his wife, Lucille, and they settled in Casa Grande in 1964. After his wife’s death, he married her good friend Phyllis Swain of Illinois.

After retiring from Mountain Bell in 1981, he kept busy remodeling many homes, gardening and hiking. He was active in First Presbyterian Church and was an elder. He and Phyllis spent many summers in the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff areas, taking summer employment at the canyon and for the U.S. Forest Service. He volunteered to help blaze the Arizona Trail. In 1984 he rode his bicycle from Flagstaff to Lake Geneva, an 1,800-mile trek taking 21 days. He was an avid hiker in Arizona and Wisconsin.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia S. Aspinall of Casa Grande and Sally A. Trejo of Gilbert; a brother, William Aspinall of Lake Geneva; three stepdaughters; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two stepgranddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wives.
