SACATON - Edward Jay Lewis, 64, of Sacaton died on Sept. 15, 2016, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Mr. Lewis was born on Sept. 5, 1952, in Sacaton to Ritchie and Frances Lewis. He was known as an all-around nice man and for his loving and giving personality. He showed his wisdom by quoting scripture and teaching his loved ones to be the best they could be.
He was a hard worker who loved planting trees and feeding horses in his spare time. He enjoyed travel and was always talking about his adventures. His family and friends enjoyed his storytelling.
Survivors include a brother, Michael Johnson, and four sisters, Katherine Stone, Cindy James, Bernadine Kisto and Bonnie Lewis. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne; his second wife, Harriet; four brothers, Cordell, Tracy, Fabian and Ritchie Lewis Jr.; and two sisters, Karen Kisto and Darla Davis.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the District 4 Service Center. The funeral there will be at 6 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Randall Stone Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Stotonic Cemetery.
