Edwina Johns

BLACKWATER - Edwina Johns, 56, of Blackwater died on April 16, 2017.
Ms. Johns was born on July 11, 1960, in Sacaton to Duriat Johns Sr. and Deborah Crawford. She was known for her personality and her laughter, kindness and strength through all of her life. She was the type of woman who cared for everyone, even complete strangers. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

She enjoyed cooking and cleaning; even when there was nothing to clean, she’d keep going. She had a very creative spirit and is remembered for always making holiday decorations, costumes for the children and helping anyone who needed a hand sewing. She had a certain type of strength that those close to her know - she was a fighter in many ways.

She is survived by her companion of more than 12 years, Joel Jones; five adult children, Damian, Carla and Roman Madril, Ramona Aguirre and Rafael Johns; seven siblings, Irene Perez, Duriat Johns Jr., Sheldon Johns Sr., Cynthia Yazzie, Lynette Johns, Candra Alaniz and Valerie Webb; and 15 grandchildren.

Wake beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the District 1 Multipurpose Building in Blackwater. Graveside service at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in Blackwater West Cemetery.
