Elena Cardenas Ibarra, 85, of Eloy died Aug. 6, 2009 at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Visitation was from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday at Glad Tidings Church in Casa Grande. The funeral was at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Iglesia del Valle in Eloy, with the Rev. Eliu Ibarra officiating. Burial was in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ibarra was born Nov. 20, 1923 in San Antonio and was a daughter of Robert Cardenas and Lucia Flores. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She moved to Picacho in 1961 from Texas. Her late husband, the Rev. Daniel Ibarra, and she began serving Iglesia del Valle in 1971. She worked on many projects for the church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and dining out with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Fraga of Eloy; six sons, Josue and Joel Ibarra of Casa Grande, Daniel Ibarra Jr. of Eloy, Guadalupe Ibarra of Marana, Moses Ibarra of Yuma and Gilbert Ibarra of Eloy; three brothers, Juan Cardenas of San Antonio, Pedro Cardenas of Laredo, Texas, and Leon Cardenas of Houston; four sisters, Anita Cardenas of Chicago, Damasia Cordova of Douglas, Elizabeth Cardenas of Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Esperanza Royer of Edinburg, Texas; 31 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; a daughter, Rachel Ibarra; and a brother, Robert Cardenas.
