GOODYEAR VILLAGE - Elgin Jackson, 47, died on July 9, 2015, at home.
Visitation and rosary service will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 4 Service Center. The funeral will be at 5 a.m. Saturday at Goodyear Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Irving Terry officiating. Burial will be in Snaketown Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson was born on Feb. 25, 1968, in Sacaton. He was a casino worker and was active in his church, serving on the executive board, housing and elections committees. Always a hard worker, he quit school to help support his family.
He was known as a man with a big heart who always made people feel welcome. He loved dancing, recreation, travel and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Allison, Alexander Apkaw and Kiko Balderrama, all of Goodyear Village; a daughter, Darien Apkaw of Goodyear Village; his father, Kerby Johnson Sr. of Goodyear Village; two brothers, Lyndell Jackson and Justino Balderrama of Goodyear Village; two sisters, Edwina Apkaw and Alaynia Macias of Goodyear Village; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Jackson.
