Elias Porras Tellez

CASA GRANDE - Elias Porras Tellez Sr., 77, died on Feb. 12, 2018.

Mr. Tellez was born on March 28, 1940, in Mesilla, New Mexico, to Fidel and Eduvijes Porras Tellez. He married Carmen Espinoza Hernandez on Aug. 3, 1963, in Casa Grande. They made a home in Stanfield, where he worked as a farmhand. They later moved to Casa Grande and he worked for Asarco. He later worked for the city of Casa Grande in the Streets Division for 15 years and was a supervisor prior to his retirement.

He loved ranching and raising his farm animals. He also enjoyed spending time with family, and he loved his grandchildren dearly. He was devoted to his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Tellez Sr. and Alfredo Tellez Sr., and a sister, Erminda Solano. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; three sons, Elias Tellez Jr., Anthony and Gilbert Tellez, all of Casa Grande; a daughter, Bertha of Paris, Kentucky; three brothers, Ramon Tellez of Casa Grande, Fidel Tellez Jr. of Lafayette, Louisiana, and John Tellez of Dixon, Missouri; five sisters, Adela Tijerina of Dilley, Texas, Esperanza Sanchez of Mendota, California, Lydia Amado, Christine Orosco and Emma Raney, all of Casa Grande; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
