(Joyce) Elizabeth Damm Bailey was born on July 15, 1950 and died March 27, 2014. She was adopted in Muskegon, MI and named after her two grandmothers, an honor for her. She is survived by her husband, best friend, and knight -in -second -hand armor, Paul Phillips, originally from Chicago. They retired to Arizona in 2012 for the cheap housing. She is survived by her son, Jeff, daughter-in-law, Melanie, and her two very special and precious grandsons, Alex and Andrew Bailey. She is also survived by her older brother, Chris (Peggy) from Muskegon or South Carolina; Randy (Karen) from Muskegon; sister Nancy Jones (Tom) from Colorado; and sister, Betsy (Gil) Marlowe from Marathon, Florida. Her parents, Nelson and Betty Damm, and her brother, Larry, preceded her in death. Liz spent her life enjoying her five passions: her grandsons, teaching, gardening, cats, and reading. She taught in Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Colorado. Liz earned a masters degree from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She spent a year in the landscape business. Liz was a foster parent for one year. Liz was a passionate feminist and active with The Women’s Center when she lived in Waukesha, WI. Her only political regret was not living to see a woman as President. She held positions as secretary of The Sunset Gang, North Muskegon, MI and volunteer and board president of The Women’s Center. Her other regret is not seeing her awesome grandsons into their adulthoods. Alex and A.J. have a great family, thanks to Jeff and Mel and Mel’s family. Liz is very glad to not have to grade any more papers. Paul, please remember to clean the litter box, the tops of the recycle can, and the space between the kitchen sink and the wall. Her ashes will be scattered in Lake Michigan, her most favorite of places. "I love you little men, more than the moon and the stars and the sky up above". You carry on the very best of me and of this I am truly honored. And Carol and Peggy, BFF BFF
