BAPCHULE — Elizabeth Esther "Liz" Johns, 61, died on March 27, 2012, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at her home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church by the Rev. John Cunningham. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Ms. Johns was born on Aug. 27, 1950, in Sacaton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo at casinos, listening to her music, cooking and watching movies, especially old westerns, and the TV show "Bonanza." She knitted picture frames.
Survivors include three daughters, Josefina Franco, Vickie Villarreal and Ana Franco, all of the Gila River Indian Community; six sons, Jeffrey M. and Marchello F. Johns, Guillermo, Martin, Jesus and Milo Franco, all of Gila River; her mother, Barbara Jean Lewis of Gila River; five sisters, Glenda Johns, Edwardine Lewis, Valentina Reyes-Tapia, Jacqueline Lewis and Patsy Johns, all of Gila River; six brothers, Patrick Johns Jr., Adrian Johns, Enrique, Brian and Valentino Lewis and Rodney Johns, all of Gila River; 34 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Victor M. and Esteven R. Villarreal and Nacho Duran; a daughter, Carrie Ann Luz; and two brothers, Molino Lewis and Abbot Johns. Her father, Patrick Johns Sr., died on April 1.
