Elmo Crockett, 88, a longtime Casa Grande resident, died on Jan. 27, 2015, at home.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trekell Building. The funeral will follow at 10, with Daniel Mabee officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Mesa Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Crockett was born on July 29, 1926, in Pima and was a son of Hyrum W. Crockett and Elizabeth Lamb. He spent his childhood in the Gila Valley and served willingly in the Navy during World War II. He married Jennie Hancock on June 1, 1948, in the Mesa LDS Temple. The couple moved to Casa Grande in 1955 and he worked for Bingham Equipment Company, first as a mechanic and later as store manager. He retired in 1988.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He loved John Wayne movies, country music, babies, animals and especially his sweetheart, Jennie.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons and daughters, Gary Crockett, Diane Fosdick, Alan and Mitchell Crockett, all of Casa Grande, and Kathy Gardner of Mesa; two sisters; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Crockett; six brothers; and three sisters.
