Elnora G. "Nora" Thomas

CHUICHU VILLAGE - Elnora G. "Nora" Thomas, 51, of Chuichu died on April 7, 2019, at Huhukam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton.

Ms. Thomas was born on Sept. 19, 1967, in Sacaton to Rufus Thomas and Elsie Pedro. She worked as a caregiver at a group home with disabled and special needs clients. She was very outgoing and outspoken and liked going out and having fun at chicken scratch (waila) dances. She loved two-stepping and dancing to cumbias. She liked to cook and cut hair and was the family barber.

She was known for making traditional war bonnets and horsehair baskets. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, playing cards, dominoes and Monopoly and sports with her family, including volleyball, kickball, basketball and football. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Thomas of Casa Blanca; two sons, Amos Narcia and Marcus Thomas of Chuichu; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Macy Narcia; and five siblings, Larry G., Gilbert P. and Alfred Thomas, Eldina Thomas Jose and Lyda J. Thomas Dykes.

Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at St. Augustine Catholic Mission. Wake following at the Rufus Thomas home in Chuichu. Burial early on Sunday, April 14, in Chuichu North Cemetery.
