SACATON — Elsie Elizabeth Fohrenkam, 87, of Sacaton died on Dec. 7, 2011, at Caring House.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Gila Crossing Presbyterian Church. The funeral there will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Annette Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Co-op Cemetery.
Mrs. Fohrenkam was born on June 7, 1924, in Chinle on the Navajo Nation and was a daughter of Joseph and Althabah Ganna. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family, considering her children and grandchildren to be her biggest achievements. She liked to dance, was a good cook and was always laughing and taking care of others. She loved animals, sewing and travel and was the backbone of her family.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Fohrenkam of Laveen and Dominic Fohrenkam of California; three daughters, Sherilyn Fairburn of Phoenix, Anita Nunez of Laveen and Kelly Fohrenkam of Komatke; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard W.; two sons, William and Richard Fohrenkam Jr.; a brother, Don Nez; two sisters, Irene and Linda Nez; and two grandsons, Joseph R. Fohrenkam and Fernando A. Villareal.
