Elva lea Amado, 94, was called home by our Lord on August 17, 2024. Elva Lea was born in Ajo, Arizona on June 10, 1930, to Roy and Cuca (Vasquez) Archer. She had three brothers Roy Jr, Charles, and Melvin. 

Elva lea grew up in Ajo and Prescott as a child and enjoyed playing with her siblings and the neighborhood kids and shared many stories of the memories and fun that they had. The family moved to Clifton in 1939, and a few years later to Morenci. She attended grade school and high school there and graduated from Morenci High School in 1949. She attended Cosmetology School in Safford and became a beautician. After completing school, she worked in Morenci and then moved to Nogales and worked there. 

Elva Lea met a very handsome man and fell in love with Gilbert Amado, and they were married in Ajo on August 16, 1952. Gilbert went to work for Phelps Dodge, and they made their home in Ajo. They had two children Roxanne and Thomas Roy. 

Elva Lea liked to play golf, bowl, music, dancing, cooking, and traveling and spending time with her mother and brothers. She enjoyed sharing stories of her life and of the family. 

She is survived by her daughter Roxanne, her son Thomas, and her brother Melvin (Janet) Archer. She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Amado, her parents Roy and Cuca Archer and her two brothers Roy Jr and Charles Archer. 

A mass of Christion Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church August 27, with the rosary being led at 9:30 followed by the Mass at 10:00. Interment will be held at the Ajo Cemetery.
