Emilia M. Hernandez, 77, of Eloy died April 17, 2009 at home.
Visitation was to be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with rosary recited at 7, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hernandez was born Nov. 25, 1931 in Eloy and was a daughter of Joaquin Montijo and Engracia Martinez. She was a homemaker and loved her family, especially the children. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo, listening to music, going to yard sales and watching Spanish soap operas.
Survivors include five daughters, Lupe H. Legate, Josie Hinjosa and Gloria Hernandez, all of Eloy, Carlotta Hernandez of Deming, N.M., and Nellie Echevarria of Tucson; a brother, Manuel Montijo of Eloy; a sister, Rita Urquidez of Eloy; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio; a son, Refugio "Cooky" Hernandez; three daughters, Francisca, Engracia and Engracia Hernandez; two brothers, Joaquin and Jose Montijo; and four sisters, Victoria Montijo, Mary Jasso, Hortencia Rodriguez and Queta Lopez.
