STOTONIC - Emily Ann Jackson, 37, died on Nov. 3, 2016, in Gilbert.
Ms. Jackson was born on Aug. 9, 1979, in Phoenix. She worked for a number of years for the Gila River Indian Community as a security guard and then was a stay-at-home mom.
She was known by her family and friends as being very independent, strong willed, a loving mother, caring, honest, very blunt, protective, sarcastic and "crazy" in her own way. She enjoyed and loved a number of things including dancing, her dog Izzy, taking vacations with her family and eating out with family and friends.
She is survived by her companion of almost 14 years, Eulalio Carrillo; four children, Klarissa and Cain Ortiz and Justice and Jace Carrillo; her parents, Robert Jackson of Blackwater, Merla and Paul Shorthair of Sacaton Flats; and two sisters, Selina and Erica Jackson of Blackwater. She was preceded in death by a brother and grandparents Ira Matthews and Josie Hogg.
The graveside service will be officiated by the Rev. Aaron Johns at 8 a.m. Thursday in North Blackwater Cemetery. A reception will follow at the District 1 Service Center.
