Emma Dorothy Henke, 89, died peacefully on Jan. 16, 2014, with her daughters at her side.
Mrs. Henke was born on Sept. 16, 1924, near Mansfield, Ark., to Thomas and Ollie V. (Cowan) Lasiter. She loved the natural beauty and peace of Arizona and hiked many, many miles across the state from the Chiricahuas to the Grand Canyon, which was her favorite place in the world.
Known as Dot, she was active in Tuesday night bowling with the Palm League for decades. She was an adventurer, loved to take road trips and was a delightful traveling companion.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Lasiter and Janet (Ron) Lindsay; two sons, John (Galina)and James Henke; three brothers, Faye L., Billy Glen (Doris) and Bobby Joe (Gladys) Lasiter; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R.; a brother, Roscoe Bartley Lasiter; and a grandson, Casey Shears.
A private service is planned.
