Ernesto K. Gutierrez, 67, of Jacksonville, NC passed away November 27, 2016 in Milwaukee, WI at the Life Care Facility.
He was born on September 8, 1949 in Casa Grande, AZ to Ernesto G. Gutierrez and Minnie Kakar Gutierrez. He was raised in Casa Grande and graduated from Casa Grande High School. After graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served for 28 years and retired as a MGYSGT (E-9) with many honors and commendations.
He enjoyed fixing things, creating "makeovers". He would repair or create bikes for the neighborhood kids. He made American flags on boards with scrap plastic. A few flags are on Bay area homes. He also took to collecting the state quarters and old pennies. Collecting the pennies started at a very young age. He also did needlepoint for therapy. He was quite proud of his creations. And of course, he enjoyed watching old western movies on TV. His hero was John Wayne as a young man. We believe this may have inspired him to be a Marine. He loved God and his country and served proudly.
Ernesto is survived by his wife, Patsy A. Gutierrez of Milwaukee, WI; two children, Ernest Jr. of SC and Marie C. Hansel of Madison, WI; three brothers, Bobby Joe Gutierrez from CA, Richard Gutierrez of Casa Grande, and Toby Kakar Gutierrez of Escalante, UT; two sisters, Mary Helen DeLeon of Casa Grande and Gloria G. Torres of San Jose, CA; his father Ernesto G. Gutierrez; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and other family members. He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Kakar Gutierrez.
