**In Loving Memory of Ernesto Lopez Salazar**
Ernesto Lopez Salazar, a cherished resident of Eloy, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on December 27, 2024. Born on December 23, 1941, to Oscar and Susana Salazar, Ernesto's life was a testament to love, dedication, and family.
A man of simple joys, Ernesto found happiness in watching westerns and listening to the harmonious tunes of the Eagles. His garden was not just a hobby, but a sanctuary where he nurtured plants with the same warmth he bestowed upon his family. Above all, Ernesto's heart rested in his role as a grandfather; he deeply cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, always creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Ernesto was lovingly married to his wife, Alice, for an incredible 57 years. Together they raised three daughters—Christina, Sylvia, and the late Daliah—in an environment filled with love, laughter, and support. Their bond is a beautiful story woven with shared dreams and unwavering commitment.
A proud graduate of Santa Cruz Valley Union High School, Ernesto pursued higher education at Central Arizona College and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix. His dedication extended beyond studies, as he proudly served in the military, demonstrating his commitment to his country.
His professional journey was marked by over 25 years at Hecla Mine, and a long tenure at the Department of Corrections from 1965 until his retirement in 1995, followed by 11 years with the CCA Prison system, Ernesto's work ethic was only rivaled by his devotion to those he loved.
Ernesto is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; daughters Christina and Sylvia; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry the warmth of his spirit in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings, David Salazar and Evangelina Rodriguez.
Ernesto is preceded in death by his daughter Daliah, his parents Oscar and Susana, and brothers Antonio, Ruben, and Genado, who now embrace him in eternal peace.
Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Ernesto's life during services on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM at Valley Chapel, followed by the recitation of the rosary at St. Helen of the Cross at 10:00 AM and mass at 10:30 AM, culminating in burial at Eloy Memorial Park.
Ernesto Lopez Salazar will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but more importantly for the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy of compassion and devotion he leaves behind. Services have been entrusted to J. Warren Funeral services-Valley Chapel.
