MARICOPA - Ernie Kempermann, 76, of Maricopa died on Jan. 5, 2014, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 by the Rev. Marcos Velasquez.
Mr. Kempermann was born on Feb. 2, 1937, in East Meadow, N.Y., and was a son of Ruth Borman and Ernest Kempermann Sr. He served in the Army and was a jet mechanic for Grumman Aircraft for 17 years. He later owned and operated Village Crossroads Restaurant in Long Island for 30 years. He loved to travel, have fun, build things and restore old cars.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carole; three daughters, Donna Pierro of Riverhead, N.Y., Debbie McColum of Somers, Conn., and Colleen O’Brien of Calverton, N.Y.; three sons, Ernest Kemperman III of South Hampton, N.Y., Shaun Brady of San Mateo, Calif., and Carl Kempermann of Phoenix; a sister, Lynn Parish of Huntington, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.
