Esther Ruth Jackson

SACATON - Esther Ruth Jackson, 93, died on April 3, 2019.

Ms. Jackson was born on May 1, 1925, to Albert and Minnie (Meyers) Miguel in Sacaton. She graduated from the Presbyterian Tucson Indian Training School and was the first school health nurse in Sacaton. She then worked in public health nursing for 29 years.

She received an award as nurse of the year in 1987. She enjoyed travel with her family, sewing, gardening, going to buffets and doing word finds.

Survivors include four sons and daughters, Clifton Jackson, Sylvia Miguel, Barbara and Jeff Jackson; two siblings, Reynalda Shaw and Alberta Lopez; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Geraldine and Aurelia Jackson; a brother; five sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Wake beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the District 3 Service Center. Funeral at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton, with the Rev. Loretta Blackwater officiating. Burial in Sacaton East Cemetery.
