Dr. Eugene Campomanes Yang, 53, a Casa Grande dentist, died on Feb. 12, 2010.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Southern Baptist Church. A celebration of life will begin at 11, with the Rev. Steve Ballew officiating.
Dr. Yang was born on Sept. 6, 1956 in Manila, Philippines to Drs. Anthony and Mila Yang. His father’s work as a physician took the family to Saskatchewan and New Brunswick, Canada, Granada Hills, Calif., and Superior, Ariz. In Arizona his mother took him to a dental appointment and he said he was impressed by the hunting and fishing magazines in the waiting room.
After graduating from high school in three years he attended the University of Arizona and became a UA supporter for life. He moved back to the Philippines in 1977 to attend the University of the East dental school, where he met the love of his life, Julie Si. They married in 1980 and moved to Tucson in 1981. He spent 25 years in Casa Grande, building a dental practice with his wife and eventually his daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Janelle N. and Philip G. Horsley. Besides being a diligent dentist, he was a hiker, biker, hunter, archer, photographer, woodworker, story-teller, do-it-yourselfer and devoted husband, father and friend.
In addition to his parents, of Tucson, his wife and daughter, survivors include three brothers, Steve Yang of Canada, Dr. Gregory Yang of Tucson and Sam Yang of Lemont, Ill., and two sisters, Thesa Yang of Oxnard, Calif., and Claire A. Kilgore of Tucson.
The family suggests that fond memories be sent to: Yang & Horsley Dentistry, 325 E. Cottonwood Lane, Casa Grande, AZ 85122.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
