Eva Hernandez

CASA GRANDE - Eva Valdez Hernandez, 75, died on Feb. 2, 2018.


Mrs. Hernandez was born on Oct. 6, 1942, in Greeley Colorado, to Jose and Mercedes Redondo Valdez. She graduated from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School in Eloy. She formerly co-owned and operated Valley Fitness Center and worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional at Mary C. O’Brien Elementary School until she retired.








She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Arizona. She was devoted to her family and friends.


She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Mary Theresa Smith and Mary Ann Smith, from her previous marriage to Charles Hank Smith; her father; and a sister, Julia Valdez. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Serapio Hernandez; a daughter, Lisa Ann Smith-Perez; her mother; four sisters, Vel Salazar, Maque Zaragoza, Carmen Valdez and Diana Valdez; six brothers, Joe Valdez, Luis Valdez, Cruz Valdez, Raymond Valdez, Larry Valdez and Danny Valdez; and a grandson.








Rosary recited at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:45 by the Rev. Alan Valencia. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park, with Deacon Pat Abiles officiating.
