Evangeline A. "Vangie" Saucedo, 58, of Tolleson, who was a program director for Seeds of Hope in Casa Grande for 14 years, died Nov. 9, 2008.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Saucedo was born in San Antonio, Texas. Through her work at Seeds of Hope, she served the homeless and was a mentor to youth of the community. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, playing games and taking care of her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle R. Meaders of Tucson and Mariela Medel of Casa Grande; a stepdaughter, Leslie Saucedo of Casa Grande; a stepson, Frank Saucedo of Casa Grande; two sisters, Lydia Cruz and Olga Castro of San Antonio; two brothers, Daniel and Rudy Alvarez of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo; her parents, Andres and Mary Alvarez; and two brothers, Joel Alvarado and Andres Alvarez Jr.
