Evelyn C. O’Brien, 81, of Mesa died on July 25, 2013, at Bella Vista Senior Living.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Mountain View Chapel. The funeral will follow at 11, with Pastor Don Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. O’Brien was born on Aug. 24, 1931, in Pittsburgh and was a daughter of Vincent F. McCoy and Alice Ford. She worked as a registered nurse for 32 years, mostly in New York. She enjoyed painting, anything art-related and shopping for antiques. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gerald F.; five sons, Mark A. O’Brien of Anchorage, Alaska, Gerald F. O’Brien Jr. of Pine Island, N.Y., Kevin P. O’Brien of Milton, Wash., Patrick M. O’Brien of Westtown, N.Y., and Thomas E. O’Brien of Otisville, N.Y.; four daughters, Cynthia Furst of Glen Burnie, Md., Kathleen Trapp of Salem, Ore., Mary E. Gerken of Phoenix and Elizabeth A. Smith of Anchorage; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John R. O’Brien; a daughter, Robin L. O’Brien; four brothers; and two sisters.
