Evelyn S. Fletcher, 86, of Tucson died on Nov. 22, 2012, at Tucson Medical Center.
The celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Casa Grande, with the Rev. Josh Hansen officiating.
Ms. Fletcher was born Evelyn Viola Schroder on March 15, 1926, in Okarche, Okla., to John and Marie Schroder. She attended school in Okarche and then nursing school in Oklahoma City, becoming a registered nurse. She married Handford Fletcher in 1948 in Bakersfield, Calif. They started a family there and soon after moved to Arizona. She worked for a doctor in Glendale. They then moved to Maricopa, and she worked several years at Hoemako Hospital in Casa Grande.
They moved to Blythe, Calif., where she was director of nurses at a nursing home for a number of years before retirement. She later went back to work at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe for a while. She had a passion for nursing and taking care of people and was devoted to her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Fletcher of Cordell, Okla., and Mark Fletcher of Nogales, Ariz.; a sister, Ione Muller of Glendale; a brother, Willard Schroder of Buckeye; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
