Evelyn Gastelum, 74, of Casa Grande died on April 26, 2014, at Hospice Family Care.
The funeral will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Apostolic Tabernacle, with Pastor Andy Combs officiating. Visitation will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Gastelum home and continue until sunrise. Burial will be on Saturday at 6 a.m. in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Gastelum was born on July 18, 1939, in Chuichu Village and was a daughter of Miguel and Josephine Thomas. She spent her life being a caregiver as well as a homemaker. She was the wife of Rudy "Wilo" Gastelum for 50 years and was a selfless woman who went out of her way to help others. She was a very strong-willed woman who loved her children, mothered and loved her grandchildren and also loved her great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed family time and hanging out with her friends from church. She loved sewing for her family and others, cooking, various crafts, shopping and listening to Spanish and Christian music. She attended Apostolic Tabernacle of Casa Grande and loved and served the Lord for many years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Abigail Mendoza and Kimberly Gastelum of Casa Grande; three sons, Myron Thomas of Chuichu, Richard and Raphael "Macky" Gastelum of Casa Grande; a brother, Fredrick Thomas of Chuichu; 40 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Gastelum; a son, Rudy Gastelum Jr.; a grandson, Danny Joe Flores Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Hope and Love Lopez; a brother, Helbert Thomas; and a sister, Inez Thomas Martinez.
