COOLIDGE - Evelyn Marie Smidt, 91, of Coolidge died on Aug. 5, 2016, at Family Tree Assisted Living in Casa Grande.
Mrs. Smidt was born on June 5, 1925, in Penrose, Colorado, to Jesse and Ethel (Ewer) Adair. She was devoted to her faith, family and community. She was an active member of Community Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Monday Nighters. She had hobbies that included travel, visiting places like Alaska and China, as well as square dancing and playing cards.
She was a family woman who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She served for several decades as a co-owner of Cole & Maud Mortuary of Coolidge and Florence as well as Valley Memorial Park. She was a strong-willed woman with a unique sense of humor and kind heart.
Survivors include three daughters and a son, Joanne Loucks of Coolidge, Janice Cockrill of Coolidge, Bob Smidt of Florence and Julia Cockrill of Henderson, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and two brothers, Art and Harold Adair.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church. The funeral will follow at 10, with the Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park.
