ELOY - Evelyn S. Davis, 73, a native and resident of Eloy, died at home on Nov. 9, 2016.
Mrs. Davis was born on Dec. 16, 1942, to Homer L. and Willeen "Beanie" Sylvester. She lived in Eloy most of her life and had many jobs and activities ranging from waitressing at Mickey’s Cafe to teaching home economics at the old Arizona Job College in Casa Grande to being a seamstress and making craft items to make her friends and family smile.
One of her favorite pastimes was "Sister Day." Her family said she was "a hero to many, an angel with a wicked sense of humor and a heart made of gold that touched so many."
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R., and a brother, Wayne Sylvester. Survivors include three daughters, Debra Smith of Eloy, Rhonda McCullough of Maricopa and Teri Shook of Casa Grande; five sisters, Norma Knudsen, Betty Sylvester, Joyce Linden, Anita Heet and Charlotte Sylvester; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Eloy Memorial Park, with Pastor Ernie Smith officiating. Her remains will be buried at the same time as those of her husband.
