ELOY - Federico "Freddy" Lopez, 58, of Watonga, Oklahoma, died there on July 5, 2014.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Lopez was born on Sept. 19, 1955, in Picacho and grew up in Eloy with 13 brothers and sisters. He served in the Air Force and was a pipefitter and firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service. After his discharge from the Air Force he settled in Hawaii, and he also lived in California, Alaska, Oklahoma and Arizona.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, surfing, skiing and long bike rides. He was very athletic and competed in Ironman events while living in Hawaii. He would bring his bike to the Mainland by plane and use it for transportation while visiting family from Eloy to Phoenix. He had many friends.
Survivors include two sons, Kai Martin Lopez of Hawaii and Ray Black Bear Lopez of Oklahoma; four brothers, Tito, Francisco and Ronnie Castillo and Manuel Lopez; and five sisters, Rosa Brodersen, Carly Foley, Estella Villarreal, Ester Slim and Ana Berume. He was preceded in death by his mother, Concepion Berume, and four brothers, Hector, Secundino, Marty and Ricky.
