Fernando (Johnny) Walker, 88, died on May 27, 2021. He was born on July 11, 1932 in Goodyear Village to Reuben and Helen Walker. He was a member of the Gila River Indian Community.
Although his birth name is Fernando everyone knew him as Johnny Walker. He worked at Riggs Ranch for 10 years and retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs after 47 years.
He was a hard worker, loving Dad and always there with a smile for his family and friends. His boys have fond memories of Dad taking their band to various events to play, even as far as Carson City, NV at the Golden Nugget Casino in 1968.
As a rancher, he raised cattle and horses. In the arena, he nodded out at various local rodeos and loved to compete in roping jackpots. He lived a great life and never complained.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie M. Walker, of 67 years; sisters Rosella and Carmelita Walker; grandson Marty J. Walker and great grandson Tevin D. Walker.
Survivors include his three sons Fernando Walker Jr., Rudy and Ronald Walker; sister Janet Lewis; eight grand-children; twelve great-grand-children and four great-great-grand-children.
