Francis Joseph Thomas

SACATON FLATS - Francis Joseph Thomas, 85, of Sacaton Flats died on July 22, 2016, at home.

Mr. Thomas was born on Aug. 27, 1930, in Laveen to Ramon and Marianna (Salcido) Thomas. He was a caring man and was known as many things: a father, grandfather, devoted Catholic, Army veteran, musician, mechanic and rehabilitation counselor.

When he wasn’t helping others, he loved fishing trips and mountain climbing with his family. He was a social person who lifted the spirits of those he spoke to. In all situations, he found strength and remained positive. He will be remembered for his kind heart and wisdom.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Thomas, Helen Arreola Ramirez and Georgina Thomas; a sister, Carmalita Raphael; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sons and daughters, Raymond Thomas, Lorraine Thomas, Niles Thomas and Iona Thomas, and a sister, Linda Antone.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at 10664 4 Mile Post Road in Sacaton Flats. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton at 6 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
