BAPCHULE - Frank Gevara Ruelas, 71, of Bapchule died on March 25, 2015.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the family home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in Sacate Cemetery.
Mr. Ruelas was born on Oct. 7, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, and was a son of Florencia Gevara and Claro Ruelas. He was a janitor at St. Peter Indian Mission School and the Sun Lakes Phase I clubhouse as well as a farmworker on the Gila River Indian Community. He was devoted to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Melinda; a son, Brent Lewis of Bapchule; three daughters, Christie Lewis of Bapchule, Norma Rodrigues of Uvalde, Texas, and Delia Ruelas of Phoenix; two stepsons, Gerald and Aldon Lewis; two brothers, Joe Ruelas of Phoenix and Peter Ruelas of Texas; three sisters, Rosa Martinez and Adela Perez of San Antonio, Texas, and Cecilia Aguilar of Lubbock, Texas; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Augustine, Alfonzo and Tony Ruelas Sr., and a sister, Natalia Garza.
