Freddie Mack Thompson

July 26, 1943 — June 22, 2017

MARICOPA - Freddie Mack Thompson, 73, of Maricopa died on June 22, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Mr. Thompson was born on July 26, 1943, in Levelland, Texas, and was a son of Walter E. and Bertha M. Thompson. He accepted Jesus into his heart at age 9 and, with his twin brother Jack, grew up in the church. He graduated from Dimmitt (Texas) High School in 1961 and moved to California in 1966, where he began a career in the produce industry, working for Bud Antle Inc. and Nunes Cooling. He had four children he adored and worked hard for. He met his soulmate, Sabra Jones, whom he married on June 16, 2007, in Yuma. They moved between Salinas, California, and Yuma for work.

After retiring in 2010, he and Sabra moved to Maricopa, where he was comforted and cared for by his devoted wife. Before advanced stages of his illness, he enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports, played dominoes and card games and enjoyed bowling, swimming, biking, running, caring for his plants, watching westerns on TV and dancing to old country music. He was known for his loving heart, sense of humor, sweet tooth and contagious laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Sabra Thompson; four adult children, Cary of Corvallis, Oregon, Randy of Davis, California, Tracy and Jolie of Hollister, California; the mother of his children, Dinah M. Thompson; his twin brother, Jack Thompson of Longview, Texas, and three other siblings, Lyndell Sinclair of McKinney, Texas, Lynn Thompson of Yuma and Sandra Nelson of Dimmitt; 10 grandchildren; two stepsons, Justin Jones of San Diego and Chris Jones of Chandler; and three stepgrandchildren.

Celebration of life at 10 a.m. July 17 at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande.
