Frederic Richard Borsa, On Sunday, May 2, 2021, with courage and dignity, Frederic Richard Borsa, surrendered to cancer. At the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family in Casa Grande, Arizona.
A Brooklyn native, born on March 8, 1945, the second-generation Italian immigrant graduated from the prestigious Erasmus High School in Flatbush, and proudly enlisted in the Air Force thereafter. A gifted technical writer, he won the Pacific Historian of the Year Award while serving at Misawa’s Air Force Base in Japan. With GI Bill funds, he earned a four-year, Master’s Degree, and a Ph.D. Further accolades followed as he became an award-winning statistician for the US Census Bureau in Washington DC. All while being a dependable and wonderful family man. Though a fastidious number cruncher, his intelligence was equally fit for the many jokes he told. A lover of movies, mechanics, electronics, and class, he lived on the cutting edge. Always stylish, always modern.
Something like his hobbies, not only was he punctual and rock-solid, he was the most honest man you’re ever likely to meet. It is with great sadness we announce his passing. He was preceded by his parents Thomas Silvio, Frances Karch Borsa, and his sister Gloria Curcio. Survived by his children Raven Wilson, Richard Valdes, Reymond Valdes, and Michelle Vittorio. With seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one Bruce the cat.
We are better people because of you. The greatest Father, Grandfather, Teacher, Mentor, and Counselor in life, now you’ll continue to guide our hearts in death. Though it hurts watching a man with a heart of gold break, we are filled with gratitude for having witnessed your beauty and strength. The long-fought battles are over, you’re finally at peace. You’ll never again be ill, no more pain. Rest in paradise, Frederic Richard Borsa, enjoy sipping on Bahama-Mamas at the block party in the sky. We love you.
