SACATON — French Gilman Harvier, 43, died on May 24, 2011, in Sacaton.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Pima Baptist Church. The graveside service will be at 6 a.m. Wednesday in East Sacaton Cemetery, with the Rev. Aaron Johns and Martin Harvier officiating.
Mr. Harvier was born on Feb. 12, 1968, in Parker and was a son of Sarah and F. Gilman Harvier Sr. In 1970 the family moved to his father’s hometown of Sacaton on the Gila River Indian Community. He grew up there and did railroad work and then worked for the Romic company for six years. He later was a roofer for the Gila River Housing Authority for eight years.
He loved outdoor activities, listening to music, mostly reggae, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved helping people.
Survivors include his wife, Angela; a daughter, Misty Harvier of Sacaton; a son, Matthew Harvier of Arizona City; his mother, of Sacaton; four sisters, Sharon Lewis of Phoenix, Gena Jones of Maricopa, Linda and Donna Harvier of Sacaton; four brothers, Martin, Alan and Danny Harvier, all of Salt River, and Wayne Harvier of Yuma; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Billy and Vincent Harvier; and three sisters, Arlene, Mona and Edrie Harvier.
